Creamy Mushroom & Gravy Smothered Pork Steak

We’re a fan of quick and easy dinners here at La Carreta, the kind of thing that’s filling, delicious, but not a hassle to throw together (if need be). Today, we’ve got a creamy mushroom and gravy smothered pork steak. As said, it’s easy, but it also makes good use of an affordable cut of meat.

First thing’s first: Let’s get our ingredients together!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 Pounds of Boneless Pork Steak(s)

  • 8 Ounces of Mushrooms (Sliced)

  • 1/2 Yellow Onion (Sliced)

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic (Minced)

  • 1 Cup of Evaporated Milk

  • 3/4 Cup of Chicken Broth

  • Salt and Pepper (To Taste)

  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Avocado Oil

  • Dried Thyme (To Taste)

PREPARATION

Step 1. Apply the salt and pepper to the pork steaks. Line the cast iron skillet with oil and leave it on medium high heat. Sear the pork steaks on both sides.

Step 2. Prepare the garlic, onions, and mushrooms.

Step 3. Remove the pork steaks from the cast iron skillet and place them on a plate and cover with tinfoil to maintain the temperature.

Step 4. Lower the burner temperature to medium low heat. Place the onions and mushrooms in the skillet.

Step 5. Once the onions and mushrooms have softened, add the garlic and allow to cook for a minute or two.

Step 6. Add salt, pepper, and thyme.

Step 7. Now, add your chicken broth and turn the heat up to medium high heat and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat and allow it to start to reduce.

Step 8. Place the pork steaks back into the skillet and then add the evaporated milk. Allow it to cook for five more minutes until the sauce reduces.

Step 9. Allow the sauce to thicken before serving, serve, then enjoy!
